The 2025 Met Gala is here, and this year, Bollywood is making a grand entrance. Held on May 5 at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, the iconic fundraiser will see Shah Rukh Khan making his much-awaited Met debut, reportedly in a Sabyasachi creation. As Khan made his way down the blue carpet in a striking all-black Sabyasachi ensemble, embodying grace and humility, fans got their hands on his interviews on the carpet. The clips, however, had many calling out foreign media for being “disrespectful” and “uninformed”.
Some interviewers, according to fans, appeared ill-prepared and unaware of the superstar’s global stature. A video clip that quickly went viral shows Khan engaging politely with hosts who seemed unfamiliar with his legacy. In the video doing the rounds online, the Bollywood superstar introduced himself to the cameras. Extending a warm greeting to the foreign media at the event, the actor was seen saying, "Hi, I'm well, thank you."
The interviewer can be heard introducing herself before asking Khan, "What is your name?Kiara Advani, expecting her first child with Sidharth Malhotra, is also set to debut, possibly in a Gaurav Gupta ensemble. Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh confirmed his Met debut with a teaser post flaunting a “Met Gala 2025” bathrobe.
This year’s theme, “Tailored for You,” celebrates 300 years of Black fashion and Dandyism. Co-hosts include Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. With stars from across sports, music, and film attending, the 2025 Met Gala promises to be a spectacular blend of style, culture, and global glamour.
