Dato’ Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie,

Malaysian Astronaut.

Which is one of your most defining moments in life?

Most defining moments will definitely be the chosen One on being selected from 12000 candidates of Malaysian vying for a slot to go on board the ISS. Space defines me of who I am today promoting STEM to all the schoolchildren out there.

Who do you admire the most?

I certainly admired my parents even to this day on raising me to become the best. They prepared me physically, mentally & psychologically to believe in myself and contribute everything to the Nation. My parents instill me with strong Education to help the weak and poor, the reason I became a Doctor. Certainly, will instill the same values to my children.

What is your strongest personal quality?

I have a strong personality on knowing what I want to achieve in life. I would plan my goals in life and set a target on them. I have come to a stage where I believe I could achieve anything in life if I put my mind to it. Nothing is impossible in life. “What the mind believes, the Body can achieve“ has been my motto since I was 10 years old.

Who inspired you to push through rough patches?

Knowing you are surrounded by loved ones make you not afraid to fail. You will always have a shoulder to cry on no matter what happens. Most importantly is to bounce back and become better than before.

What does a perfect day look like?

An ideal perfect day for me is to spend quality time with my 4 kids. Seeing them grow knowing they would become better than you and instilling to them the right values and respecting others. I truly enjoy meeting with other schoolkids and sharing my experience with them. If I could inspire just one person a day, that makes me the happiest person ever.

Would you like to share your thoughts with your followers?

Always believe in yourselves and never let other people dictate you. Always keep your dream in a corner of your heart knowing one day you will achieve them. Work hard, be bold and fearless if you want to succeed.

How would you like to contribute to unite Asia?

Asia is the future of ‘World Economy’. If united nothing can stop us. We should focus on the younger generation giving them opportunities and a platform to voice out. Asia countries need to play a bigger role trading one another. Business opportunities between countries should be more flexible and borderless. A united front is necessary to make Asia the best in Economy, Politics, Trading, Businesses and the power of the world. More work and effort are needed to achieve these goals. Id love to reach out to the grassroot level of these Asian countries and shaping up on how we should think and behave, preparing us to become future leaders if given the chance.
